I saw beautiful, white smiles across the room. There were couples kissing and others counting down as the senseless crystal sphere in New York slid down a giant metal pole. With red wine for Grandma and sparkling grape juice for the younglings, a joyful celebration began. This was a new beginning for some, and for others, a continuation of what came before. Regardless, the community of friends and family laughed and rejoiced together as one. But that was eight, lengthy hours ago, and as my mother walked out of her bedroom, she wasn’t expecting to see a battle field of all of us young men scattered on the floor with game controllers still in our hands. She peered into the girls, pink and pillow-covered bed room to find the flat screen†¦show more content†¦Prayer was spoken, and then an all-out war began in order to get to across the landscape of food. The corn beef was attacked first; meat so tender and bathed in juices that made my mouth water while tiny, round balls of seasoning layered on top of the beef. The only time I had ever seen cabbage fought for was in this moment. The green vegetable was marinated in a concoction of salt and pepper; steamed and cooked just long enough to cut without any resistance. My father fought for this like it was his own child, and then we all watched as he attacked it like his enemy. My favorite, aside from the corned beef, was the black-eyed peas. These delicacies were shaped just like any other bean, but curved with a distinct black mark in the center. The bacon grease, abundant in supply, stole the show, and after hours of being slaved over, the bland peas had transformed into a perfect pairing to the cabbage. Last, but certainly not least, was the corn bread; a secret and true art. Corn bread could be ruined easily, but only by a true culinary artist could it be perfected. The mix cascaded into the tin pan and slid into the blazing heat for what seemed like hours. The master chef couldn’t leave them in the fiery oven for a moment longer than needed or else the wonder would become as dry as the Sahara Desert. However, if they were taken out too early, the consumer would experience what the mix looked like, coarse dough, in their mouth. Cinderella Told Through the Centuries: Reshaping Gender Stereotypes From the parlours of the French aristocracy, to the folk tales of Germany’s middle class, and now to every child in America, the tale of Cinderella is a relic that has been passed down through the generations. Although the backbone of Cinderella has been relatively consistent, different authors have retold the story to further relate to the audience of the time, which in turn, created a different impression of how appropriate gender temperaments should be conducted. In every version of Cinderella, there is a young girl who is made a slave but still finds her way to marry into high society. In this manner, the modern story of Cinderella still sheds the same light on gender stereotypes that are seen in Charles Perrault’s original version of the story. Answer: Part (a) The forecasting models present , helps in analysing the future trends in which a particular sector might show the trend of its future prospect to be followed (Anderson, et al., 2013). For framing the efficient forecasting method of the telecommunications apparatus and computer sector , the model that should be used in order to achieve an efficient forecast, is the moving average method. Moving Average Method as stated by Ali, et al., (2015), based on a given series and number sets of a previous data extracted from the companys source of data provided, moving average can be conducted. This is a statistical tool that analyses the average data based on the intervals. On performing the specified formula, the pattern of the past trend and events of an organization can be achieved. This past trend or pattern, is helpful in determining the future prospects of the organization. It is assumed that a companys future trends follows the past trends that has been followed. Hence, with the use of moving average methods, we can derive forecast for the telecommunication apparatus and computer sector, that would show how the future trend and pattern of the industry would be in the year 2017. Part (b) Moving average is calculated based on the source derived from the data provided for the retail sales index of the telecommunications apparatus and computer sector. As stated by Guo, et al., (2013), retail sales index analyses the short term trends and changes that has occurred in the consumption structure of a particular market respective sector. In this analysis , the retail sales index of the telecommunication and the computer sector has been analysed for from January , 2013 to June , 2016. The retail sales index of these years with the base index of the year 2014, shows, how the changes has been discovered in the consumption pattern of the people for the referred sector. In order to forecast the future trend of consumption made with respect to the telecommunication apparatus and computer sector, the statistical analysis of moving average has been determined , with the interval of 6 months. The moving average results have helped us to analyse the current trend that has fooled in the retail sales index of the industry for the past 4 years. According to Huarng, Yu, (2014), Moving Average (Ft) = (sum of actual values in previous n periods) / n = (Y t-1 + Y t-2 + ..... + Y t-n) / n Figure 1 shows the moving average results that has been derived by conducting the process. The blue line indicates the original retail sales index of the telecommunication apparatus and the computer sector, whereas, the red lines shows the moving average at an interval of six months. A purple dotted line has been used to show the trend in which these two lines move. This helps in predicting the future trend of consumption forecast in the telecommunication and the computer sector. This trend line indicates that there is most probably a fall in the future retail sales index, which indicates that comparatively to the base year 2014, there would be a fall in consumption pattern of the telecommunications apparatus and the computer sector in the year 2017. With the help of this pattern, the management group of this industry has been capable of achieving a vivid view of the future projection path. Hence, in order to mend the pattern, the management group of the company must raise their technological tools to be implemented in the production process, raise the connectivity and use efficient cost effective methods of production in order to lower their cost of production (Li, et al., 2013). Low cost of production would enable the people to provide the service to the customers at much lower rate. Hence, this would affect the demand of the sector positively. A positive raise in the sales of the sector would help in attaining a pattern different from the trend line. Same - Sex Marriage INTRODUCTION: The institution of marriage is highly respected and holds great sentimental value for most societies. However, not all couples are afforded the right to be legally recognized as a married couple. Couples of the same-sex are denied the right to have their marriages be legal in the eyes of the law. Same-sex marriage is an important issue because it deals with a relatively large minority of the United States. Gays and lesbians are rumored to be about ten percent of today's population. I am just one of the many that fit into this contested minority group. Some people in society feel that I should never be given the opportunity to benefit from a marriage, as an opposite-sex couple will. I feel marriage is my natural born right handed down to me by my constitution. So quickly society forgets that I am a citizen of America as much as anyone else. Whether it is by choice or biologically decided, who a person loves does not determine the amount of rights they are given. The issue of same-sex marriage is highly controversial and I suspect will remain so for many more years. The issue of same-sex marriage is combined with several contrasted views. These views include morals, family values, religion; and those of equality, constitutionality, and right to privacy. I do not plan to argue for any views which are based merely on opinion, only those views that hold legal precedence. Some believe marriage is a privilege, not a right. This is a misconception. Marriage is very much a civil right and I plan to prove this by using creditable legal resources. The United States Supreme Court has cast down many judgements on the topic of marriage, just as the Constitution affords the right of marriage. The issue should not be dealing with the legalization of same-sex marriages, rather the issue is the recognition of same-sex marriages. Same-sex couples have and will continue to enter into marriage. Couples are being married within the eyes of certain churches alrea dy, just not in the eyes of their government. THE HISTORY OF MARRIAGE: Historically, marriage has always been between a man and a woman. This is not only the definition in the dictionary, but also the definition the law uses when denying a same-sex couple the right to a recognized civil marriage. The Random House Webster's Legal Dictionary defines marriage as, the legal relationship of husband and wife, entered into in conformity with state law and carrying various rights and duties imposed by law (1996, pp.162). Marriage is considered a separate institution, unique of it's own. The institution of marriage is a very respected one, and holds much sentimental value for many people. The institution of marriage was based on a patriarchal system, and until recently has remained so over time. Paula Ettlebrick claims that marriage is steeped in a patriarchal system that looks to ownership, property, and dominance of men over women as its basis (1997, pp. 164). Marriage originally was created to ensure financial stability and was arranged from early childhood. It was not based on love. Parents would arrange the marriage so that the families would join and prosper from the merger. This is why it was extremely important for the wealthy to marry. Not only was money a basis of marriage, but also reproduction. Child bearing has always been an important issue associated with marriage. Historically, men joined woman only for the purpose of producing offspring. The thought was that the male legacy must continue through time. This is why men keep their last names and women change theirs. Originally in society, marriage was a privilege most people received, not a right. For a great deal of time society argued civil marriages between same-sex couples could not be honored due to the fact that the couple would not be able to produce children. Society and it's court system can no longer depend on the argument that marriage can not be without procreation. For if this were the case, many heterosexual marriages could not be acknowledged by the government. This is because many couples choose not to have children or physically can't reproduce (American Civil Liberties Union, 1998). Through time society's views
