Is Every College Essay Read? How Many Admissions Officers Read Them? My mom does this too, she wants me to write an essay about “LeAdErShIp”. Seriously though, parents generally shouldn’t have any editorial rights on essays. i wrote my own essay about a more lighthearted experience i had, showed it to my parents, and they actually liked it. maybe just write what you want to, and see if they enjoy it. We’re way too emotionally involved to give anything approaching useful feedback. I came up with a really good idea about how an experience at school with another student changed my perception on how I treat others.
